Skip this one I really fault the management and Marriott for not taking care of this property. Stained furniture, dirty carpet, just to name a couple of issues. I don’t think Marriott would allow a property in midtown to look like this. Simply awful

Great Staff / Rooms vary Wildly 1) The staff here is excellent! They are extremely nice, thoughtful, helpful and fun to engage in conversation. Specifically want to acknowledge Ideley, Nasha, Samantha and Annettee! 2) My first room was questionable. Warped shower stall floor tiles, room looked very old and rough around the edges. Carpet appeared dirty and I was afraid to let any of my clothes touch the floor (like when you're taking off pants, etc.). I showed the front desk staff photos of the questionable things in my room and they promptly moved me to a better room on the same floor. Photos are of the first room. Second one was better but I didn't take photos :-( Given that this is part of the Marriott/W chain, I was surprised at the accommodations, even if they are in their budget line. Again, the second room was defintiely closer to what I expected.

Nice hotel close to everything Stayed here the night before my dad's funeral. It seems like most if not all Aloft hotels are designed the same way. They have you fill out a health form upon check-in then give you the keys to your room. The patrons do not abide by their policy of 2 people per elevator, not sure if there's any way to really enforce it. The hotel was pretty quiet which is always appreciated. I love that they offer Netflix and I think they have a few other options. There were many food restaurants, deli's, a CVS and a few other things within walking distance. That always makes for better tv. Check-out is as easy as dropping the keys off in this little box.

Failed experience, poor COVID-19 practices, dirty hotel Failed experience at A Loft hotel in Harlem. Came here to quarantine with my daughter for 4 days before her 2nd test before moving into her school dorm. Upon arrival, front desk reception staff either not wearing a mask or were wearing it below their nose for entire duration of our interaction with them. This behavior was observed every time I went down to the lobby to retrieve food delivery. Guest room 302 was not well cleaned. Carpet had crumbs or dirt on it, remote control was not in plastic bag signaling it has been disinfected (as I have seen at other hotels I have stayed at during the pandemic). On 1st day, housekeeping knocked on the door to clean room. I thought this wasn’t being done during the stay (per other hotels I have stayed in). Called guest services to suspend any room cleaning (since we are quarantining in room) only to have housekeeping knock again on day 3. Guests routinely not wearing masks in elevators, hallways, or lobby. Staff did not enforce. Although there are signs that say (only 2 in elevator and face coverings required) observed staff not correcting any guest who was non-compliant. Even observed staff member interacting in close range (within 1-2 feet) with guest and he was not wearing a mask, but guest was. This went on for over 5 minutes. The room had no windows to open (so no fresh air during quarantine). The HVAC system was only working if I wanted to turn on the heat (which made the room unbearable). When I tried to use the fan to circulate the air or turn on the air-conditioning to cool it down (we arrived and it was 77 degrees in the room) the fan pushed out warm air only and guest services said the air conditioning doesn’t work. There was nothing they could do, basically tough – sit in a stuffy overly heated room. Sliding door between toilet / shower space and vanity didn’t actually seal the space so if anyone was in the vanity space, they had a view into the toilet area. Tile used in bathroom area was outdoor brick tile that looked dirty. Room was not stocked with a compliment of towels. Missing wash cloths. Pictures on website are touched up and must be the very best rooms on the tallest floor. Room had one window, so it was dark. Countertop and leather round sitting stool both chipped with flaking bits of countertop and fake leather peeling off. I tried to locate the name and contact information of the hotel manager. What was posted on line was incorrect. I sent a complaint to the Marriott home site the evening I arrived. 3 days later, no response other than an auto generated complaint ID #.
