Supposed to be holiday of a lifetime but worst holiday experience ever Devastated that our special holiday was ruined by such an awful resort. I have never smelt a restaurant as awful as the buffet restaurant it made you feel physically sick and unable to eat. The restaurant smelt of sewage and was literally falling apart. My family were ill every day on our trip. The comfort of our rooms was minimal and very tired. Sadly as a family of 4, having requested rooms together, we were 5 minutes apart by train!!! The staff were so unhelpful and horribly rude every single day. We were eaten alive whilst there. The list goes on and on. We have stayed in Punta Cana before been to Jamaica and never been treated so poorly or had such a bad experience. We will never return and certainly never to a Bahía Principe!

Run away! This place is absolutely awful. Rooms are outdated and falling apart. Heavy caulking in bathroom in attempt to cover heavy mold. Ceiling above tub dirty and warped. Faucets and drains corroded. Once white room towels are gray and stained and never enough provided. No wash cloths. Towel rack fell down, then hitched back on by house keeping. Stool had a broken leg. Layers of dust on fixtures and in corners. Drapes falling off walls and in need of steaming. Coffee area and bowl full of dust and hairs. Mosquito carcasses and blood all over...we added a few; Housekeeping ignores it. Kill 30 Mosquitoes in the first 10 minutes then made contact 3 times before housekeeping came to fumigate. Had to spray door/ balcony entrances prior to entry to keep Mosquitoes out off room. Tv offered 4 English channels that were very grainy. Fridge barely kept drinks cool. Kid sized pillows, straw blankets and tough sheets. Flies taste all the food before you do. Lots of variety, zero quality. Bread taste like soap, foods are cold, salty, and sweet. NO ALLERGY INFO PROVIDED! My daughter has treenut allergies and chef is clueless. Daughter ate barilla pasta for the entire stay to be safe. Just miserable. Beach not usable. Tons of brown, foot strangling weeds in water. You have a climb over a weed wall to get to the weed water. It rained most nights...large waterbugs all over. The last night my one jumped on my youngest daughter... it took hours to calm her down. In the morning at breakfast, huge waterbug ran by our table. We switched tables only to be met by her children...we left hungry. Property is huge and requires you to take a trolley to get around. No separate walking paths for guests... constantly have to watch your surroundings fir moving vehicles. I know this IA a soanish speaking country, but staff act ignorant to the most basic English words. Pushy solicitors always trying to sell something.

Just ok.. This vacation was booked for a large party of 17, which included both adults and children. The resort is massive so expect to see tons of people everywhere, which is what I didn't enjoy, as it felt too overwhelming. This is the only resort that I've been to with such a terrible mosquito problem. You cannot enjoy the lobby without a swarm around you, also our rooms were mosquito infested to the point where we had to prevent housekeeping from coming in. The room was in need of repairs, the toilet leaked and there was a hole in the ceiling in the shower. The bathtub is a high jacuzzi tub so beware getting in and out of it. The front desk service is terrible, pray that your room key doesn't get deactivated during check-in time as they make you wait in a long line just for the key to be activated in .2 seconds. I ended up waiting 45 minutes in a line after letting them know that all I needed was to get into my room yet they made me wait for the people ahead of me to check in which is ridiculous. Pool towels are very limited as well. They give you towel cards but still don't have enough for everyone so I don't know what they point is, just expect to air dry. We ended up drying our towels on the balcony to avoid having to go without since we didn't bring any. We stayed for a week so were only allowed 3 restaurant reservations, which were also difficult to get. The restaurant food was good, the buffets are ok but you can find something. I don't eat pork so options were limited. The pools are very nice and the shows by the beach at night were enjoyable. We definitely tried to make the most of it but this resort isn't my first choice.

Stay away Do not be fooled by the large number of good reviews you will see for Bahia Principe Grand Bavaro. This was absolutely one of the worst resort/hotel experiences we've had, and we travel fairly extensively. After reading the issues noted below, be aware that on day three of six we were offered an upgrade to a different section of the resort, but only if we signed a very stringent non-disclosure agreement that stipulated we would never say a negative thing about the resort or our experience, never seek compensation for the three days of vacation spent mostly at the front desk trying to resolve issues, and so on. We refused, and so were forced to stay where we were. With the exception of a handful of staffers, resort employees are indifferent at best; rude, dismissive, or nasty at worst. It was amazing how many employees were unable to, or chose not to, answer simple questions. Restaurant staffers seem to constantly forget any requests; at the Mexican restaurant, Tequila, we asked five different people for water. A housekeeper actually had her finger up her nose while speaking to us. Not realizing that members in our party speak Spanish, a front desk staffer was overheard commenting about another guest to a coworker, "Who the f**k do these people think they are?" Public area conditions are neglected and sometimes dangerous. -White plastic grates around all pools are often broken, sometimes invisibly, as when a five-year-old in our party fell through one of them at the children's water park. Thankfully the injuries were minor, but it was a very scary experience for them. When the attendant there was notified, he just grunted. -Food safety practices are minimal. Many perishable foods at the buffets are just sitting on trays with no refrigeration or ice, and no sneeze guards. Buffet areas are not monitored by staffers. At the outdoor bars, soda bottles sit in the same bins of ice that are used for drinks. -Sewage smell in the buffet restaurant of the Bavaro lobby made it impossible to dine there. -Restrooms in common areas are not air conditioned or ventilated. Sensor lights in stalls often do not function properly or at all. We saw many toilets filled with human waste, toilet could not be flushed, staff had not addressed the issue. -Broken or missing pavers and tiles on all walkways and stairs, including the stairs to the third floor room we were forced to accept. There are no elevators. -Raised boards on decks and walkways near the beach. -Broken outdoor light fixtures everywhere, including a missing lamp post in a high-traffic area where there is a jumble of exposed wires on the ground. -Walkways are often very dark. -Tram drivers can be careless; driving too fast, driving on pedestrian walkways, no headlights at night. -Giant roaches roaming free, even in the buffet restaurants. There's more but you get the idea. Room issues below are a compilation of the two rooms we inhabited as we had to move out of the first one. Of the four groups in our party of ten, three had to be moved out of the original rooms for various issues, including a mosquito infestation. -Broken(as in falling out of the wall), non-functioning, leaking, oxidized shower. -Phone not working. -Safes inoperable. Locksmith is kept very busy at this place. -Air conditioning not working. -No blackout drapes; broken drapery tracks. -Huge nasty stain on the sofa. -Tiny insects crawling all over, and under, the glass on the dresser. -Smell of raw sewage after flushing toilet. -Broken or missing brackets that hold shampoo etc. in tub area. -Furniture- chipped, cracked, broken. -Stains on walls. -Ancient thermostat with no temperature display. -Questionable cleaning practices. We realized on the next-to-last day that our drinking glasses were not replaced daily, but apparently just rinsed and wiped dry. Were we even given fresh glasses on check-in? I get sick thinking about it. If you are working with a budget, I suggest you stay fewer days at a lovely resort rather than giving this "all-inclusive" one dollar.
