Manhattan's Midtown West: Edgy, Urban Vibe with Lots of Restaurants

Though it's a stone's throw from top attractions such as Central Park, Broadway, and Radio City Music Hall, Midtown West can feel a little grittier and less developed than some of the surrounding NYC neighborhoods. Stretching roughly from 59th to 29th Street and the Hudson River to 8th Avenue (though some say it continues as far east as Madison Avenue), Midtown West lacks the chain restaurants of Times Square and the large department stores of 5th Avenue. Instead, you can find neighborhood markets, cafes, and walk-up row houses.

Midtown West is also known as Hell's Kitchen, a nod to the numerous restaurants that serve everything from Asian street food to fine French cuisine. The neighborhood's eateries and bars are especially concentrated along 9th and 10th Avenues, and it's easy to walk between them all.

Great location and cheap We were looking for something that was reasonably priced for NY standards with a good location and this hotel fitted the bill, close to Central Park, places to eat and drink and the subway, staff are friendly and pleasant, we had a room on the 6th floor overlooking 6th Ave, our room was big enough for the three of us and cleaned daily, we did not eat or drink at the hotel so unable to comment on these facilities. Only gripe was paying for baggage storage at the end of our stay which we knew about beforehand but, still is a first for me ever, at least you can say it’s something different for a hotel and smile about it. We would stay here again if the price was right for us as we had no issues at all, it served a purpose, a bed to sleep in and a shower in the morning. Nothing to do with hotel but we decided to cancel our car booking for the return trip to JFK and decided to use the subway and air train, so easy from this hotel and quick.

Great location! Great location.. comfortable beds and great service. Let the water run for a bit and it will eventually get hot! Bathroom was small but the veiw was great! I felt safe as a solo traveler! The hotel also has lots of history and cute little features of old telephones and movies from the past. A great place for the price. I would definitely stay here again!

Great service, great bar but old tired small rooms Staff were so friendly and helpful, Really lovely atmospheric hotel bar, Rooms small with disappointing ‘city view’ - straight into an office block, no street view. Family rooms are 2 small double beds … Great location but better more modern options available a little further out
