take ... vocals and all. When we were lying down the basic racks,
‘we would set ourselves up on this huge sound stage, the size of am
sirplane hanger, We'd work on getting the sound right during the
day and then come back and ateempe the actual recording at the
‘end of the evening. ‘Cold As Stone! wns one of the fint songs we
dl and it fee lke a comerstone ... something to build on. Te set the

Pal: "I've always found it inhibiting to do guitse overdubs in the
studio, with everybody standing around. So halfway chrough
reconding this album, I took a few tapes to New York, booked a
seudio at random with an engineer I'd never met before and went
in to try and blow hin away. Ie was great! I felt like 1 was fifeen
again, at my frst stadio session, It's a method that worked on alot of
‘hese songs, including this one.”
Magne: "We discovered the sound of the Chamberlain on this
record, es a wonderful vintage keyboard that kept overheating. ma
in love."
How Sweet It Was
Morten: "This one was conceived, I believe, afer a Ray Chatles
‘concert in Norway. Is fll of undercurrents and isa very important
song to me, ahough I can't reilly explain why."
Pal: "I like this one alot. les both slow and fist a che same time.
Mags plays great piano and I also like the fact thst no two verses are
alike. I wrote the lyrics on my honeymoon and gor the tide from a
‘andy cove across the street from my hotel.”

t was in the early eighties that Norwegian-bom Mags, Morten and
2al first joined forces to create a unique musical partnership
