    I bought a pair of these last year after an ankle sprain took me out of running for a few months. I initially intended to use them to build up foot and ankle strength but ended up transitioning fully to minimalist running because they feel pretty damn good. I've used them for a year, and just ordered a new pair to replace my old ones. All the usual caveats to minimalist/barefoot running are in the last paragraph of the review.

    These shoes are very comfortable, feeling almost like slippers. There's a roomy toe box and they do not grip your foot too tightly at any point. After traditional arch support trainers this was a strange experience, but now whenever I wear a tighter trainer (such as the Merrell Trail Glove) my feet feel constrained. I initially had a bit of pinching on the upper surface of my right toes where the shoe flexes and developed a minor blister. This stopped after the first week or so and only occurred in one of the three pairs I currently own, so it might be that my feet adapted to this pressure area. Holding them in your hand they feel quite heavy, but you don't notice any weight when they're worn. There's a removable insole which more dedicated minimalist runners will want to remove, but I've left in. Even with the insole hard running can be punishing on your feet as with any minimal shoe. Warmth isn't too much of an issue as the sole does a good job of insulating you from the ground even in very cold conditions, and the upper is quite warm. There is also some rain/splash resistance to the fabric, enough to keep your feet dry in light rain and from puddle splashes.

    They're at least as grippy as a standard trainer, but less than a most trail-based ones. I have run in these on tarmac, concrete, paving, flagstones, wet sand, gravel, rock, ice, snow, and mud/grass. They only really struggle for grip on wet mud, grass and wet very smooth surfaces like flagstones. You could use them for trail running as well as road running, but might struggle a bit on muddier tracks. You don't feel as grounded on wet mud in these as in a fell running or trail shoe, but they're a solid all-round choice.

    In terms of build quality and durability I have no problem in recommending them. I have a pair that has done at least 500 miles runing over a 1 year period, as well as being used as a casual shoe and has held up remarkably well. In fact the Evo II replaced the converse allstar as my all-purpose trainer, I've even worn them to work. They have been through rock festival mud, run across muddy wooded hills, been trodden on in nightclubs, had unspeakable things spilt on them and even come out relatively intact from a mosh pit. Fortunately they machine wash without too many problems too.

    I have no hesitation recommending this shoe to someone interested in minimalist running. It's a good multi-purpose shoe ideally suited to road running and light trail duties. You won't have to replace them too often, and they're available at a similar cost to competitors. They also look pretty striking and unique in grey/red and a lot of people have commented on them worn as casual shoes. My mates have mocked a bit, but most people have been positive. The bottom line is that I own 3 pairs which should be an idea of how much I like them.

    Minimalist running caveats:
    If you have no minimalist/barefoot running experience you should not expect to put this shoe on and be able to run as normal. Transitioning from normal running takes time and a profound change in your running style. I would recommend that before trying minimalist or barefoot running that people read around the subject and try running short distances in a cheap, disposable shoe such as aquasocks or plimsolls to see how it suits them.

    After spending some time reading the literature on running technique and running shoes in an effort to sort fact from fiction (the conclusion on shoes being broadly "if they're comfortable, they're fine"), I decided to have a look at minimalist shoes with the intention of altering my running technique away from landing on my heels (the benefits of barefoot running technique seeming plausible, though unproven at this time).

    Regarding the shoes themselves; they are light and comfortable, but they do take some getting used to if you've been landing heel first for your whole life. If you're running more than a mile each time you go out, I would suggest making the transition to barefoot style slowly, by running no more than one mile in that style on the first outing, and gradually increasing as feels comfortable, because you really feel the difference in your calf muscles. It took me several runs to get past the soreness in my calf muscles, and a little longer to get truly comfortable with the new running technique. My first outing was about 10% slower than my usual times, and it took me several weeks to get my times back down to personal best times, so don't be disheartened if you find it difficult to begin with!

    The one bizarre thing with these shoes is the pricing. My dark grey/red shoes cost about £37 in size 8, while the grey version (I cannot tell the difference) cost £80. At £37 I'm very happy, but nothing I have read regarding running shoes would seem to justify spending £80 on a pair.

    The shoes -- Zero drop, good ground feel, very comfortable. The sole is very flexible giving your foot ease of movement. I gave them a good test running up and down some very steep areas of the South Downs, the grip slid out a bit and my foot did move about a bit, but this was a very harsh test and they performed just as well as I would hope. If you are new to minimalist footwear then luckily for you these shoes have an easy to remove insole that can ease you in, once you are use to them with the insole take them out for a more minimalist feel.

    Sizing -- I am usually a size 9, but after reading about the shoes on vivo's site as they advised I ordered a size lower than usual, but since it is free delivery and returns on this item I ordered both a 9 and an 8, the 8 ending up to be a better fit.

    Unlike the other review about these shoes on Amazon, I really like VFF's and actually prefer them to these vivo's, however at a much lower price and not having to wash these every week these shoes are great value and have their advantages (especially if you don't want random people to stare and comment on 'dem weird shoes with toes')
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    The bottom line -- These shoes are very good and easily deserve the 5/5 rating

    I liked them so much (especially since they are at a good price) I just purchased another pair
    price of fist pair -- £38
    price of second pair -- £34
    (the prices seem to fluctuate, probably due to exchange rates)

    I bought this shoe a while back. I do like this she. It is light with a nice fit but maybe a little tight around the big toe for myself if I use the shoe every day. I bought two pairs of the Vivobarefoot Neo trainers and I use those more often but when I want a light trainer I use this shoe. The shoe is ideal for barefoot running or as use as a everyday casual shoes for general walking.

    The show is well made with good quality materials

    J'ai acheté ces vivoevo 2 barefoot baskets suite des problèmes avec mes genoux à cause d'une jambe courte. J'ai déjà vu un podologue pour avoir des semelles correctives. 1 mois plus tard j'ai moins de problèmes et je vais essayer de courir sans semelles dans l'avenir proche.

    =================
    Allgemeiner Eindruck
    =================
    Ich war von dem Schuh von Beginn an "begeistert". Nach ca. drei Monaten des intensiven Gebrauchs bin ich es immer noch. Meine Erfahrungen mit dem Barfußlaufstil sind freilich etwas "ambivalent" (siehe unten).

    =================
    Aussehen
    =================
    Stylish

    =================
    Material
    =================
    Relativ robust. Aber 'mal schauen, wie lange der Schuh hält. Ca. 2000 km, wie ein Rezensent schrieb, dürften eine realistische Einschätzung sein. Allerdings hängt das u.a. auch davon ab, auf welchem Belag (Gras, Waldboden, Asphalt, etc.) man sich bewegt.

    =================
    Gewicht
    =================
    Mit ca. 340 g sehr leicht, so daß es richtig Spaß macht, damit auch im Alltag herumzulaufen.

    Paßgenau. Eine Größe 47, wie in meinem Fall, ist auch eine Größe 47.

    =================
    Laufgefühl
    =================
    Das Laufgefühl ist überragend, weil der sensorische Input via Fußsohlen weitaus größer als bei gedämpften Tretern ist. Stichwort: Proprio(re)zeption.

    =================
    VORSICHT: Barfußlaufstil
    =================
    Der Barfußlaufstil ist nicht nur gewöhnungsbedürftig, sondern auch nicht für jeden geeignet.

    * "Gewöhnungsbedürftigkeit":
    Die Verlagerung vom konventionellen Fersenlaufen zum Vorder- / Mittelfußlaufen braucht Zeit. Und jede/r ist gut beraten, diese Umstellung recht langsam vorzunehmen. Das heißt, zunächst entsprechende Übungen zu machen (Wadenheben, Kniebeugen, Auf-der-Stelle-Laufen, etc.), dann recht kurze Laufeinheiten in den ersten 2 Wochen (ca. 5- 10 min) einzulegen und schließlich die Laufdistanz dezent zu steigern.
    Wer das nicht beachtet, der kann sich einen "erheblichen" Muskelkater in den Füßen zuziehen. Lerneffekt: Man lernt auf diese Weise, wie viele Muskeln sich noch im Fuß befinden, die bei gedämpften Schuhen / Schuhen mit Absätzen idR überhaupt nicht benutzt werden :-)

    * Hilfreich sind in diesem Kontext im WWW frei verfügbare Infobroschüren, wie z.B.:
    - Lee Saxby, "PROPRIOCEPTION - Making Sense Of Barefoot Running" (siehe die informative "Vivobarefoot Training Clinic"-Website).
    - FootPerformance-Trainingspläne (von "Natural Running").

    * Apropos evtl. "Achillessehnenreizung"
    Jahrzehntelanger (tw. Leistungs-)Sport hat bei mir dazu geführt, dass ich u.a. immer 'mal wieder Achillessehnenreizungen bekomme, wenn ich nicht aufpasse. Einige Wochen des Barfußlaufens (Rennen auf weichem Grasboden) mit diesem Schuhpaar haben bei mir dann Achillessehnenreizungen in beiden Füßen ausgelöst, die wirklich heftig waren und einige Wochen angedauert haben. An Rennen war dann nicht mehr zu denken, und im Alltag haben nur Schuhe mit Absätzen Linderung gebracht - ganz abgesehen von täglichen Übungen wie Wadenheben, die in solchen Fällen recht wirksam sind.

    ~~~~~
    Fazit
    ~~~~~
    Topschuh für diejenigen, die mit dem Barfuß-Laufstil klar kommen. Das ist freilich nicht nur eine Frage, wie sachte man sich an diesen anderen Laufstil gewöhnt (hat), sondern auch eine Frage der (Vor-)Belastung der Achillessehnen. Daher: CAVEAT!

    ~PB

    Nachtrag vom 9. Nov. 2013
    =================
    Seitdem ich meine Achillessehnenreizungen überstanden habe (was ca. 4 Monate dauerte), bin ich zum begeisterten Barfuß-Läufer mutiert. Es ist dabei ein "Hochgenuß" mit diesen Barefoot-Schuhen (auch für Alltagsbesorgungen) durch die Gegend hüpfen zu können. In diesem Sinne: "Ende gut - alles gut"!

    Kleines Manko: Diese Schuhe sind "nicht wasserdicht". Wenn's Hunde und Katzen regnen sollte, dann sind diese Schuhe (auch im Alltag) nicht geeignet.

    5.0 out of 5 stars Guter Schuh für das Gym
    Reviewed in Germany on 14 May 2013
    Im Gegensatz zu den Läufern verwende ich den Evo II eher zum Liften (Kreuzheben, Kniebeugen) und anderen Fitnessübungen im Studio. Er eignet sich aufgrund der flachen, unnachgiebigen Sohle und des guten Seitenhaltes ausgezeichnet dazu und auch für andere Übungen, die in Richtung Crossfit gehen.
    Allerdings fällt der Schuh meiner Meinung nach SEHR groß aus. Die 44er sind mir ein klein wenig zu groß, obwohl ich sonst oftmals über 45 benötige.
