    I am relatively new to semi serious biking having only been a holiday biker for years. Having bought a good bike to commute to work, round trip of 26 miles, I wanted a good bike computer. I was dubious when it arrived, it looked complicated. Took it out of the box, followed the simple and comprehensive instructions and Wow! It is brilliant, works well, good value, what more can I say? Oh yes, I ordered another one for my spare bike!!!

    Very good. Makes cycling even more enjoyable. The only problem I have is the awkwardness of the controls, it makes your life annoying for 10 mins while you set it up each time you go for a ride. But once you have done that, it's great. Having said 10 mins, I think I may have reduced my time to 9 now. I rate it at 4.5 stars

    Have used Cateye Commuter Computer for almost two weeks for daily commute. While computer itself is pretty OK, to my opinion there are few major design flaws.

    1) Mode and menu buttons is quite difficult to use, when computer is off the bracket - not possible with gloves, even with bare hands quite tricky, when on handlebar, whole computer acts as mode button, but menu button is not accessible;
    2) menu button is available only when computer is removed from bracket - so have to remove it to see, for example, daily / weekly etc. trip distance;
    3) computer 'clicks in' in the bracket, but there is no lever or something similar to remove it - have to push it out as if lifting the front up. Have to use both hands; otherwise it 'takes off' on release. So, after some 20 or so clicks in-and-out little knob, that holds the computer in the bracket, broke off.

    First time setup was a bit tricky - maybe not too complicated, but annoying becose of mode and menu buttons. Instructions were somehow even more complicated than process itself. But, as it has to be done only once (or not often), I do not consider it a big issue.

    Overall impression - if one can leave it on the bike 24/7, and only use mode button (i.e. clicking computer itself) then it would be OK. But, if one have to remove it on regular basis (think of locking bike on street), this probably will not be a good option.

    Other particularities I've noticed - display's angle of view is rather narrow, but it has to be mounted horisontaly for optimal reception of sensor, which happens to be also the optimal viewing angle (also for backlight). It takes 5 or even more minutes for the thermometer to adjust from room temerature to outside temperature.

    If I will find reasonable alternative (with backlight and temperature display), will seriously consider sending it back for refund.

    Has a really nice clear screen. Very easy to fit on to the bike stem. I find the temp measurement a useful extra piece of information.
    Only small negative point is that it feels like something is about to break when detaching the unit from the holder.

    As this is my first bicycle meter I can't compare it to others meters. I'm happy with device, it's easy to operate,it's easy to check speed or time, because of its big display. Mounting can take up to 10min and is straight forward. I found only two disadvantages. It won't turn itself on while in 'sleep' when you move wheel, you need to press once on 'mode' (press on top of device) to turn it on. Night light is not strong enought to see easily measurements while cycling.

    This cycle computer is useful but is defiantly an unnecessary gadget.
    It is much like any other cycle computer with speed, average speed, max speed, distance and duration. The extras are the temperature, estimated time of arrival and night light.

    Generally there is too much on the screen. The main function is displayed largely at the top but I get distracted if I want to see one of the smaller bits of information. The screen itself has a low range of angles from which it is visible which means it dictates it's position on your handle bars (which might not be your first choice).

    The temperature sensor is a novelty. It is obviously affected by direct sunlight, however it is fun to have a good indication of temperature.

    The estimated time of arrival works really well if you cycle along the same route. It takes the distance of your last route and your current speed and distance traveled to predict your arrival. This is thrown out a bit by hills or fast/slow sections of your route.

    Finally the night light is good but you have to be stationary to get at and operate the switch into nightmode. However when you set off you should know if you are going to need lights or not.

    This is very much an extra gadget. I probably wouldn't buy it again for myself but as a Christmas present it has lots of "toy" factor and is certainly something to keep you entertained/distracted with on your daily commute.

    Nachdem bei meinem VDO X1 ein paar Plastiknibbel abgebrochen sind, so dass er nicht mehr hält, habe ich mich auf die Suche nach einem Ersatz gemacht. Er sollte wie der VDO auch mindestens permanent die Geschwindigkeit und Uhrzeit anzeigen und zusätzlich eine Anzeige für andere Streckeninformationen haben. Weiterhin wollte ich eine Temperaturanzeige und Beleuchtung. Diese Kriterien haben das Feld stark eingeschränkt. Eigentlich hatte ich nur was mit GPS oder aus China gefunden. Beides kam für mich nicht in Betracht. Durch Zufall bin ich dann auf diesen Fahrradcomputer gestoßen und er erfüllt alle meine Erwartungen!

    Die Installation ging recht flott. Ich war mir nur nicht sicher, ob die Radseite egal ist, aber nach kurzem ausprobieren war klar, dass man den Sensor sowohl links, als auch rechts anbringen kann.
    Dank Funkübertragung braucht man auch kein Kabel zu verlegen.

    Die Einstellung am Computer hat etwas länger gedauert, da ich anfangs nicht in das Setup-/Initialisierungs-Menü gekommen bin, wo man alles (inklusive Kilometerübertrag) einstellen kann. Dafür muss man die 2 Knöpfe auf der Rückseite etwas länger drücken (nur leider sieht man dabei die Vorderseite nicht).
    Alle anderen Einstellungen kann man auch nachträglich über das Menü einzeln ändern. Dafür muss der Computer allerdings aus der Halterung genommen werden. Ich empfinde dies nicht als kompliziert! Im Gegenteil, es ist eine Art Schutz, dass man nicht zu viel während der Fahrt an dem Computer rumspielt ;-)

    Während der Fahrt kann man die wichtigen Funktionen über kurzes Drücken auf das untere Display umschalten (Nimmt man den Computer aus der Halterung muss dafür die Mode-Taste auf der Rückseite gedrückt werden!). Geschwindigkeit, Uhrzeit und Temperatur hat man immer im Blick. Ich persönlich finde es nicht optimal, dass die Geschwindigkeit nicht immer oben ist, denn bei der Anzeige der geschätzten Ankunft (ETA), ist die Geschwindigkeit in der mittleren Zeile.

    Apropos ETA, ist halt ein Gimmick, mehr nicht! Ich nutze das Fahrrad für den Weg auf Arbeit, daher kann man die Anzeige verwenden, aber wirklich brauchen tut man sie nicht, da in meinen Augen sinnvolle Funktionen, wie zum Beispiel die schnellste und durchschnittliche Zeit für die Strecke, fehlen. Außerdem kann man sie nur auf Kilometer genau einstellen (auch im Auto-Modus), von daher ist es eh nur ein Richtwert. Wer darauf Wert legt, sollte sich vielleicht doch die Computer mit GPS Unterstützung ansehen, vielleicht haben die da mehr Informationen.

    Fazit: Der Computer besitzt alle Funktionen, die ich benötige und funktioniert einwandfrei!

    Ich habe noch keinen Computer gesehen, der alles Nötige und dann noch die Temperatur anzeigt.
    Auch die Entfernung zum Ziel lässt sich durch die Markierungen gut ablesen.
    Nur: Die Einstellung auf der Rückseite muss mit viel Geduld und Gefühl vorgenommen werden. Eben mal eine neue Entfernung einstellen, ist leichter gesagt als getan! Macht wenig Spaß! Sonst aber Klasse!

    けっして明るくはありませんが、夜、都内でも街灯の下などでなければ普通に確認できるレベルです
    かなりのレビューで「使い物にならない」「意味が無い」などと書かれているので、ある程度覚悟しての購入でしたが普通に確認できるので「えっ？？？」って感じでした。
    目が悪い自分がこれなので、普通の方でしたら全く問題ないと思います。
    明るい部屋で確認すると点灯してるかどうかは全く判らないような光なので酷評してる方の確認はそれだけしかしてないのかもしれないなと思いました。

    ▼とにかく説明書がわかりづらく説明不足
    とりあえず最低限、画面に表示されている全てのアイコンの説明はするのが当たり前だが、それがなされていない。
    電池表示マークは電池が消耗してくると出るようだが、説明書の説明だと常時出ているとしか取れない。

    ・時計右上の小さなアイコンの意味がわからずしばらく悩んだ。どうやらこれは時計の針？デザインしてる人間の感性を疑う
    こんなマーク無くても「：」が点滅してればそこが時計だと誰でも判る

    ・「電波マーク」のような点滅アイコン
    走ってる最中に出るので、「センサーのからデータ受け取ってますよ！電波来てるよ！」という事だろうと思うが、
    説明をしろと。

    ・時刻入力の欄の説明、説明不足で時間設定を飛ばしてしまった人も多いのでは？
    センサーの取り付け方解説「※電池蓋側が外側になります」とでも書いておいてくれないと
    デザイン的にまさか電池蓋側が表側だとは思わず、しばらく説明書とにらめっこ状態になった（小さいイラストでは確かにそうなってはいるが）。

    ・リセット時に何も表示的なアクションが無いので、リセットしたのかどうかがわからない
    ※一般的には画面表示が消え、ボタンを離すと表示再開だと思うが、溜まった数値が0になるだけで
    何もアクションが無い
    ※データビュー時は「リセット」の文字が出るのに

    ・ETAオート時、表示的リアクションが一切無いので、ETAがセットされたのかどうかがわからない
    1km未満かどうかはわからずに使用しようとした場合など、何か操作ミスか設定ミスなのかとしばらくいじってしまった

    ・ETAが１km単位でしか測れない（特に不便極まりないという事ではないが）またそれが説明書に書いていない

    ▼ETAの進捗グラフの馬鹿さ加減
    このサイコン最大の売りではあるものの、１Km単位でしか設定できず、ざっくりとした意味合いしかありませんが、
    設定した距離を消化して「目的地まであとどれくらい？」というものなのだから
    ゲージ満タンから減っていくのが普通だと思うのですが、
    その逆、進むとゲージが増えていくという謎仕様。

    ざっくりとであっても感覚的に全くわからない。
    しかもETAがきちんと設定されたか、機能しているのかが良くわからずもやもやします。
    セットされるとETAゲージが満タンになって、目的地に近づくにつれて減っていくという仕様ならば、これも問題なかったはずですが。
    さらに言えば、500m単位で設定でき、画面にも「あと○○.○km（500メートルずつでマイナスされていく）」という表示もあれば最高だった。

    ▼ナイトモード時のデータビュー操作がまともにできない
    ナイトモード時は一回操作でライトが点灯し、次の操作で実操作になりますが
    おそらくその関係でETAの設定がうまくできません（距離設定などでの「MODE長押し」を受け付けない）
    街灯を探してナイトモードを解除してから行うとできましたが、これじゃあナイトモードの意味はないし、
    かなり不安定に感じました

    ▼取り外しが怖い
    皆さん言ってるように、サイコン取り付けが樹脂製台座ですが、台座自体の柔軟性まかせなので外す時が非常に怖いです。
    キャットアイの台座はたいてい数年で素材が劣化して砕けるようにボロっといきますがこれはもっと早く割れそうで怖い
    なんらかの機械式にすべきでしょう。

    まともな操作テスト・デバッグしてあるとは思えない適当な作り、
    これを設定・デザインした人間はセンスゼロ、ユーザーの気持ちも判らない人だと感じました。

    評価の★は、実際に使ってみて上に書いたことを咀嚼・消化して、機能と使い方を全て把握できた上での評価です。
    説明書を含む商品全体の評価としては最低評価の★１つです。

    とはいえ１万円以内でETAとライト付きとなると、このモデルしか無いので、ニューモデルに期待します。
    その際には自分を含むレビューの意見も取り入れて欲しいと願っています。
