How do I book onto the bid writing courses?
By using our Eventbrite online form or by company invoice
I am a new to bid writing and tendering, will the training be suitable?
Yes, the bid writing training courses are deliberately aimed at any level of experience and any sector. The content has been designed to be non-complex and easy to follow. Check out our testimonials from other delegates, which includes a lot from those who are new to bid writing.
I have been bidding for a while, will the bid writing course be suitable?
Yes, the courses are aimed at any level of experience. We do also have Advanced Bid Writing Training, Bespoke or In-House Bid Writing Courses and our Bid Mentor Service. On our bid writing training course, we have had delegates who have been bidding for up to 10 years. They have found it very useful as it has helped open their eyes to new ideas as well as reaffirming some of the things they have been doing and seeing they have been doing them correctly. For a lot of people, they have never had any formal training and they have had to "feel" their way through things. The training can help cement things and give a different way of looking at things.
Which bid writing course is best for me?
If you are only involved in bid writing, then the 1 day course. If you are involved in more elements of the process, are new to bidding or want a wider view, then the 2-day course would be suitable. The 2-day course also incorporates the bid writing training.
With the online bid courses, the bid writing day starts at 9 and finishes at 3. The 2-day course starts at 9.30 and finishes at 3.
For the face-to-face courses, the bid writing day starts at 9.30 and finishes at 4. The 2-day course starts at 9.45 and finishes at 4.
Will it help me win bids?
Being totally open and honest, as much as we would like to say "yes, of course", it is about how you apply what is discussed on the course. We will go through areas that will help you produce better bids. It is down to you to apply these areas to your bids. It will certainly put you on a good path, if they follow it. Or ask for a bid review, after the bid writing training, which can act to further embed what you have learned.
How many people will be on it?
With the online full-day courses, up to 8 people.
For the face-to-face courses, up to 10 people. Many of our free short bid writing courses sell-out at 100. As these are live webinars, we record the training and share with those who have expressed an interest.
When will I get the joining instructions/meeting invite
With the online courses, a Zoom invite is sent 2 days before the course. The Zoom invite will be sent along with the training materials.
For the face-to-face bid writing training events, all venue details, instructions and materials are a few days before the course. But any questions please just ask - training@thorntonandlowe.com

On Google reviews, reivews.co.uk you will find hundreds of 5 star review for our bid writing courses.
“I was on the 2-day bid writing masterclass. I have around a year and a half of experience in bid writing, and I found the course informative, engaging and held a lot of interesting and insightful points. Charles is a great tutor! The course didn't feel stuffy at all, I left with a lot of good documents and processes I can implement going forward (and the food was great). Thanks Charles!” Jade Macdonald, Trainee Bid Writer, Human Support Group
“Charles provided some bid training at our company for the bid team and directors. I thought the training was fantastic. It flowed well and Charles kept it interactive and informative. It really helped the team understand the bid processes that sometimes can be missed and Charles explained the importance of bidding and showed us how some vital things that can be missed can lead to the winning bid. Friendly and approachable, a great session!” Jodie Boast, Bid & Proposals Coordinator, Eric Wright Construction
“It made me re-evaluate how we treat our bids. Whilst we do some things well it has shown where our weaknesses are. It was interactive and very informative.” Kirstie Allie, Stannah
Who delivers the training?

“The course was of a high standard led by a knowledgeable presenter” Ernie Canning Senior Quantity Surveyor, Kier
“I attended the two day Bid Writing Masterclass in London held by Charles Grosstephan from Thornton & Lowe, at the end of October. The venue was a superb choice with perfect hospitality and was very easy to reach via public transport. The course itself was well paced, thorough and interactive and Charles was the perfect tutor/host. He made learning the fundamental basics and tips and tricks to ensure the best possible opportunity of work winning, fun and entertaining. So much so, the group of ladies I attended with wanted to return for a third day! I am fairly new to the proposal/PQQ world but feel I have now been given all the tools to move forward and progress with my current employer. Thank you Charles.” Susan Crookes, AMA Co-ordinator, Balfour Beatty
