German automobile major Mercedes-Benz launched its latest product from the G-class sport utility vehicles (SUVs), the G63 AMG, in India.
The G-wagen (Gelandewagen or cross country vehicle), in its 34 year of series production, is the longest serving vehicle in series production. The G63 AMG launched here on Tuesday is priced at Rs. 1.45 crore (ex-showroom Mumbai) and replaces the earlier G55 AMG.
The G63 AMG is equipped with luxurious interiors, slight design and styling modifications, a new infotainment system and a powerful 5.5 litre supercharged V8 petrol AMG engine. Addressing a press conference, Eberhard Kern, Managing Director & CEO, Mercedes-Benz India, said, “while the design of the G-Wagen has remained unchanged since inception in 1979, it has undergone upgrades over the years and incorporates the latest technologies. It is the highest end performance SUV and is capable of going from 0-100 kilometres per hour in 5.4 seconds.”
