Jimmy Kimmel Is Engaged to Molly McNearney

The late night host proposed to his girlfriend of three years, Molly McNearney, while on vacation in South Africa

Late night talk show host Jimmy Kimmel is engaged!

PEOPLE has learned that Kimmel, 44, popped the question to girlfriend Molly McNearney, 34, while vacationing in South Africa’s Kruger National Park.

Kimmel’s rep confirmed the news but declined to offer additional details.

Kimmel, the host of ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live!, and McNearney, a co-head writer on the show, started dating in 2009.

“After Jimmy and Sarah [Silverman] broke up, Molly and Jimmy both found themselves single, and they clicked,” a source told PEOPLE at the time. “They’re really happy together.”

It will be the second marriage for Kimmel, who is slated to host the upcoming Primetime Emmy Awards on Sept. 23, and the first for McNearney.
