- Reviewed in the United States on May 21, 2024I liked and loved this journey of uncovering our callings and assessing where we fit on Earth. Mr. Miller has established himself as an expert in the development and consulting areas. His wisdom and understanding are very refreshing for those thirsty for a drink of something good for the soul via inspirational content. I received confirmation after confirmation of the things that I have dreamed about to make them real and share the journey with others so that they can get to their destinations faster. Take this shortcut and apply these principles of wisdom.
S.G.A. of Blacstone Entertainment gives this guide two thumbs up 👍 👍 !
- Reviewed in the United States on January 20, 2011I purchased this book two years ago when I was in a financial crisis after losing my job. I listened to Dave Ramsey on the radio and he recommended this book.
So I read this book, and did I find a job after 48 days? NO! In fact I lost a few hundred dollars when I got into SMC (drop shipping company) which I read about at the end of the book.
But why exactly do I give this book 5 stars? Because it helped me realize who I am and what I like to do. Yes, it's common sense, but Dan Miller brakes it up for you and makes it easy to see.
Also this book gave me ideas. Instead of laying on the couch and watching Oprah reruns, it made me think, act, move, send out resumes, run a marathon... It gave me hope when I needed it.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 24, 2009At some point in life, you want to hit pause on things and figure out why you've allowed circumstances and events push you down side road after side road until you're not sure how you ended up so far from the starting line...the imaginary line crossed as you grabbed your high school diploma and passed over the stage. Nowadays, like me, you learned some things the long, long, veerrry long way around and wish you would've "come to yourself" a long time ago. Well, this book helped me to not feel like I was stuck with only myself to lead me out...which would result in the blind leading the blind.
I didn't want a "pep rally" type of reading...or a "when life gives you lemons, make lemonade" story...not even one of those study of personality types blah blah blah. You see, I am and have always been a hard worker with no criminal history, no addictions, no health problems, and I even say "I Love You" to my wife in public situations. My problem was not having any push toward education or college during the school years. 10 Years later, I finally "bloomed" and craved learning after realizing that I could learn and make A's in college on the very subjects that I had flunked back in the day. For too long, I had worked the hard way to get by, but I could also write with my opposite hand, too...but that would take way more concentration and tire me out faster than doing it with my correct hand. Same goes for "getting by," It has wore me out, and I want to do what is correct for me, my family, and my talents.
This book and that new-found passion to make up for lost time matched perfectly.
Thanks to Dan Miller & Dave Ramsey for providing the book for those of us have hit the brakes on the wrong path and are hauling butt in the right direction.
Be sure to view the videos by the writer on Youtube
Great book.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 11, 2025If I were looking for a job, this book would be helpful. There are some good principles in it, but it spends a good amount of time on the job search process. The first part of the book was most relevant for me. But I can see how it can be helpful from someone in the job market.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 10, 2010Let me say this first, don't bother buying No More Mondays the book Dan Miller wrote after this one. Waste of Money. I may feel this way because I purchased both and its a lot of repeat. But I do believe 48 Days book is better when you dont have a clue what you want to do. The first 3 Chapters are very repetitive (Ok I get it, I hate my job and want to find the work I love). Chaper 4 it seems we get down to business. There's no application as another reviewer said. You have to figure out the application yourself (you have to be a go-getter), it asks questions to make you look inside. Another thing this book doesn't mention or at least I missed it, Dan Miller has a 48 day schedule on his website to follow. I didnt find it until after I had already read the book. [...]. This book helps you create resumes, cover letters, and other useful things. It goes over how to interview. However, this book is only a few pages so if you really need help creating a resume etc., get a book specifically on resumes or whatever you need. I believe this book is STEP 1. Its deffinitely not the solve-all but I still gave it a 5 stars because now I know exactly what I want to do thanks to this book, and looking at the other links he provided to persue my dream job.

5.0 out of 5 stars Do you love your work? 48 Days To The Work You Love by Dan Miller helps you better understand and organize your skills personali
Have you figured out how to find work you love? Recently, Forbes magazine reported up to 70% of Americans hate their jobs.
Like most people, I have experienced jobs that were less than engaging for me. I’ve been an infantryman, commercial fisherman, laborer, bricklayer and carpenter. Then I was blessed to find work I love. First as an entrepreneur home builder with our company Land Ark Homes. Now as a blogger.
We often imagine finding work we love but do you know what to look for?
Picture yourself getting paid to do something that thrills you. That you are good at. That society values. When you find work you love, it shows.
Proverbs 22:29 "Do you see someone skilled in their work? They will serve before kings; they will not serve before officials of low rank."
A resource that is awesome for you, whether you are 16 or 60, is 48 Days To The Work You Love by Dan Miller.
Here's my Top 3 reasons to read this book:
1. To help you understand your skills and abilities.
2. To help you understand your personality traits.
3. To help you understand your values, dreams and passions.
With Miller's book, in 48 days you will create a compass. Take the journey to make some fundamental discoveries about yourself. With this tool you can discover your calling. You reflect on the unique experiences that set you up for opportunities no one else will ever have.
Before you can move toward “work you love” you need to understand yourself. Miller says that 85% of the process of moving in the right direction starts from taking a closer look at ourselves. Only 15% is a result of the application. Our culture teaches us to plan our life around our work. This book will encourage you to plan work around the life you want.
To dig deeper faster, answer the online questions to generate a profile. This tool, called “The Full Shebang,” supplements what is gained from the book. It acts as an outside objective lens to filter your unique personality profile helping you avoid jobs that aren’t right for YOU.
This inventory will narrow your options to one hundred jobs that fit your personality. However, PLEASE DON’T make a career choice simply on the basis that you have the ability to do something well. I know computer engineers, lawyers, doctors and dentists who have the ability to do their work but hate it every day.
Behavior is a better predictor of where you will function with success than raw ability! This 48 Days profile helps you look at your behavioral characteristics and move toward work you love!
Attitude: Pray and think about how God may use this book and/or the online tool to help you better understand who He made you to be.
Action: Read the book and take the online profile to better understand where you should go from here.
So... have you found work you love?

5.0 out of 5 stars Dieses Buch hat mein Leben verändert!
Danke, Dan Miller! Und danke für die Empfehlung, Dave Ramsey!

2.0 out of 5 stars
