Social, Mobile, Visual
The new Mashable can be described in three words: social, mobile and visual.
Social
Our community has always been one of the most socially connected news audiences online. Our current design, however, doesn't let you find the stories that are bubbling up on social media sites. The new Mashable does exactly that. While you can still read our latest stories in the "New Stuff" column, those articles gaining traction on social media services now hop over to a column called "The Next Big Thing." Meanwhile, the stories being shared the most progress to the "What's Hot" column. At a glance, you can see what's new, what's next, and what's hot around the social web.
Mobile
The new Mashable is also focused on giving you the best possible experience on every screen. Last month, Mashable was accessed on more than 2,000 different types of devices -- our site will now look great on all of them! Using responsive design techniques, the new Mashable melds to fit any device, all the way from mobile phones to giant desktop monitors. With more than 30% of Mashable readers now consuming our content on mobile devices, we're delighted to provide a great reading experience on the go.
Visual
We're going more visual, too. We love big images. You tell us you love them too. So why not provide the biggest, highest resolution imagery possible on every device? Not only does Mashable have better imagery than ever before, but you can now share individual images from each story to your social networks (more on that later!).

Microcontent, Infinite Scroll, New Comments and More!
Sharing an article with social media is an option you'll see on most websites these days. But what if you just want to share a specific part of that article -- an image, quote, video, or song?
In the new Mashable, each individual piece of content becomes sharable to your social networks. So if you find an image you like, you can post that image (and not the full article) to your Pinterest page. Or if a quote catches your eye, you can share just that piece of the story to your Twitter feed. Whenever your friends visit Mashable from these shared pieces of content, the specific quote, image, video or audio file will be highlighted on the page. We call this "microcontent."
Our new site also features infinite scroll. Clicking back through multiple pages to get caught up on the news is a lot of effort: Instead, the new Mashable continually loads new content as you scroll down the page. This is faster, simpler and a more enjoyable way to consume the news.
What's more, the new Mashable has an all-new commenting system. Thanks to a partnership with Livefyre, Mashable commenters can now post photos from Instagram and Flickr, videos from YouTube and Vimeo, songs from Soundcloud and Spotify and much more. Comments update in real-time, with rich-text editing and the ability to change your comment after submitting it. Oh, and you can share your comments to social networks, too!

Better Ads!
Web design is evolving, and it's time for advertising to evolve too. We think there's an opportunity to make ads more beautiful, more fun and more engaging than ever before.
