Great and easy to use touchscreen. Maps have been spot-on and directions always seem to be accurate routes. Always acquires and stays locked on to satellites well (unlike phones in remoter areas of the country) Have used this GPS for almost a year now. Originally got for an new RV and long cross country summer trip (over 9000 miles) last year. So much better than in vehicle system for ease of use and portability when traveling and using rental cars too. Note: I prefer a separate portable system when driving as it announces from a separate speaker and doesn't cut out the radio system playing a groovy toon or someone talking on a radio show just to announce an upcoming direction change from a single speaker system. A HUGE pet peeve of mine, particularly in and around cities where every few blocks something gets articulated by Ms. GPS. 2) Uses its' own battery/power supply and doesn't drain your phone. 3) Keeps the gov't and 5.0 (cops) off your case as it isn't considered a hand-held device for ticketing revenue generation. Although an RV unit, it is great if you have a larger tricked out truck or SUV like me with a roof-top tent. My SUV is 8'3" for clearance and you can set up individual vehicle profiles. Also handy if you tow boats, trailers, etc as you can set the overall vehicle length and height clearance parameters. Saving locations is great and easy to do. Plenty of characters to give meaningful names to locations. (other units are character limited from my experiences). As for "suction mounts" never use them, because they always fail and give way, usually at the most inopportune time too. Not conducive to extreme winter cold, summer desert heat, or perpetual sun exposure. Always use a fixed or portable dash mount system like in the attached picture. This type stays put and has never slipped even in slammed on hard braking to avoid a deer or other "head in the sand" inconsiderate drivers moves.

LOVE IT, love it, love it!!! I know the reviews on this product are all over the map (no pun intended) - but we love it! We are happy Garmin consumers, have purchased 8 Garmins over the last 10 years - happy with every one (all are still working except one - it only "died" because we used it daily for years) - but this one is the King of Garmin !!

We have already used it for two small trips with NO errors!! LOVE all the extra info you get on this!!

As to reviews that are posting it has problems - we haven't had any issues - BUT, we followed the instructions to the letter - Charge First (yes, you want to play with it as soon as you get it, but resist the urge!). After FULLY charged, open your Garmin account on your computer (or load the Express account if you are new to Garmin) THEN plug in the Garmin - let the device power itself on AFTER it's plugged into the usb. It will first give a message that you MUST click YES to - THEN it will go through the steps, connect, update and load - Just follow the prompts. The only reason we knew to follow this order was our last Garmin kept having issues new out of the box until we called Garmin, they advised to always follow this procedure with each new Garmin - it works!

We've only had it a few weeks, but are totally satisfied - worth every penny! We plan on taking several road trips this year - the RV770 will give new meaning to "pleasant road trip"!! If you are a road traveler ... Buy it - you'll love it!!

Upon receiving my RV 770 GPS, I attempted several times to get it on my home wifi, (Apple airport extreme) but could not. After struggling for a while, I took it to my office, and attempted to get it to connect to the WiFi there... SUCCESS! I was able to do the software and maps update from my office over the next 2+ hours. Both the software and maps updates were successful.

I then took the GPS back home and tried once again to get it to sign-in to my home wifi, and this time it connected first time. Apparently the software update helped with that part.

Next I tried Basecamp on my macbook pro. I enabled the maps tied to the RV 770 so I could see them on Basecamp. I poked around and defined half a dozen waypoints for various points of interest for an upcoming trip. I was then able to transfer those waypoints from Basecamp to my RV 770 without any problem. (This was a relief because I had read a post where someone had a problem transferring data from Basecamp to the GPS. It was a non-issue for me. Worked first time. to be specific, I just transferred waypoints, not routes.)

Finally was the drive test. Everything worked as expected. Played with all the features I could, and all seemed to work just fine. Voice command worked pretty reliably (depending on background noise).

One thing that might be worth noting, when making phone calls through the RV 770 bluetooth connection to my iPhone, Pairing was fine, Quality was fine. One little complaint: There is no way to end the call with just voice commands. You have to reach up and touch the "end" button on the screen, In my state, that makes it no longer a "hands free" device and I could get a $185 ticket for using it. I also don't see any way to exploit my iPhone's Siri capability. Maybe I just haven't figured it out yet.

Too bad you can no longer load up a voice or a custom vehicle icon other than the defaults available in the unit. I'm going to miss that Australian ladies voice I used on my old GPS. :-) That's not a big deal though. The default voice is fine.

All things considered.I like it. I'm pleased with the purchase. Lots more to learn though... I will update this review if I find any more nuances that might help inform others considering this GPS

This was one of the best buys that I made when we started RVing. The display was big and I appreciated the split screen showing me lanes to exit in. It was a blessing when camping up north and not knowing the territory. Navigation was easy and setup was a breeze. I loved the way that I could preplan my trips on my pc on a software that Garmin provided for free download. It worked wonderfully with the unit. I also appreciated that I was able to download the route that I took on my trip from the GPS and make a video memory of all the places that we had travelled. With the software that was free for download from Garmin. I was able to insert videos, pictures of all of our favourite stops. It was a wonderful keepsake to have.

This RV 770 LMT-S GPS was purchased to replace an earlier model of the same unit which I had used for several years.
The new unit that I have just purchased is the same easy to use, accurate, high quality product but with some welcome new and upgraded.features.
I very much like the ability to plan trips on my computer using the Garmin "Basecamp" software and then download them to the GPS unit.
