To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzed reviews to verify trustworthiness.
This unit was great when it worked. However, JVC said their might have been a problem with the amp in the radio. Audio is awesome. Functionality is great. Screen is clear and responsive. Will be looking to purchase another radio. This exact radio. Does not support XM without the module. Also need to purchase the module for the factory components and the plug and play connector. You will enjoy how it sounds and functions! Despite my audio problems and distortion when the radio was acting up, the radio did give awesome sound quality.
This JVC unit is a total piece of junk. I had nothing but problems with it from day one. It almost instantly started going into protect mode and said there is a problem with the speaker wiring. Strange, because I didn’t use the speaker wires, all I used were the preamp connections. I took it to a reputable local repair shop and they replaced the main circuit board for $220. It worked for another 2 months and now it’s back to the same issue. I’m just going to cut my losses and buy an Alpine. Total waste of money.
I have been installing car audio for 19 years and as a general contractor for 4 years
1. The head unit speaker (used for turn signal chime and door ajar) picks up fluctuations from the alternator causing an extremely annoying high-pitched humming sound that changes based on the vehicles RPMs. (All grounds checked and are good)
2. The Android Auto can't stay connected for more than 5 minutes without crashing. However, most of the time it lasts about 10 seconds after several unplugs. This is by far the most irritating malfunction as it is the only reason I upgraded from my factory player.
3. The rear speakers cut in and out
4. The LCD displays a low quality picture and low levels of interference
I bought this two days before Amazon's holiday return policy (which I just found out about) so I'm probably screwed. Don't be like me, don't get screwed, buy something better...I wish I did.
