Beautiful detailed sound..amazing looks
Before even reviewing these speakers, i want first to say that Def Tech, or Definitive Technology, has been the best company I've ever done business with. Not only do they keep making their products better and better, but they always stand behind them. And they have stood behind their products long before people wrote reviews online-before there was online. The D11's sound is so clean and precise, they make you want to listen to all your favorite artists, and to find more just so you can hear them through these. The highs are as they should be, light, airy, crisp when they should be. And between the bass, which is controlled, musical, and deep, the mid range is clear and unmuffled. In fact, having listened to much higher priced offerings from other manufacturers, I can say easily that these Demands have a sound that far exceeds their price tag. After listening to many male and female vocal tracks through the D11's, I feel that they are very neutral, not coloring the sound with their own personality, allowing the true voice to come through. That's a pretty big deal to me, and it makes listening through them so pleasurable. Although I don't consider BestBuy sound rooms to be an ideal testing ground, I listened to the D11's there recently, and got to contrast them with other bookshelf speakers, all of which were more expensive. Again, I was so impressed that the Definitive's sounded clearly like the more expensive speakers, they were just better in detail and ease, and I kept wanting to listen to them vs any other. I have done most of my listening at moderate to low listening levels, which really allows you to focus on the quality of the sound, rather than the sheer might. The beautiful thing, is that when I raised the level higher but still reasonable, they sounded totally relaxed, like going from cruising at 55 to 80 in a Mercedes-easy, calm, and thoroughly enjoyable. So in short, given the awesome sound, and stellar looks, ease of magnetic grills (God send), combined with a great company, I think anyone in the market for kick ass bookshelf speakers, with sound far beyond price, would be well served to audition these, or just take my word and get em.

One another note, Gibby's are a top shelf retailer. I also purchased a Yamaha RX-A4A and 2 pairs of Sony SS-CS5's from them via Amazon and not a single issue.
